12th Class - Welcome Thai Friends!

Hello buddy!
Welcome to

MALAYSIAAAAA!!!

About Malaysia?

Good Food is everywhere, just tell me, perhaps some nearby MAMAK restaurant?

So, it was an unexpected day for all of us. There are about 20 and over Thai students who are joining for a mobility program at UPM for about 2 months. First of all, welcome!! Hopefully we can be good friends =)!

This is my first Thai friend among them, His nickname is O.

Zahid and I were the ones entertaining him. Well, he is a very nice person =)
We also taught a few things about video editing as he needs prepare a 1-min video as being told by Prof Jaya. Good luck buddy!

11th Class - Peer Review

So, we given a task to review our friends' blog/videos.
It is for us to develop our critical thinking in order for us to be able to give comments to our friends.

It can be done in a very quick way actually. On top of that, by giving us opportunity to comment on each other works, we will indeed try to improve ourselves in critical thinking and communication skill as well.

Indeed, this activity can trigger students' interest and motivation in giving personal opinions about something which is rather good for university's students to fully use their mind to think of something. Opinions have no right or wrong, and it depends on the person who received those comments, whether they want to take it and make a change or vice versa.

Thank you for reading this, God Bless You !!!

10th Class - New Production

So, we finally created a new production for the 3 minutes video. Well, it is not actually a new production because we did not change many parts of the video.

The original one was full of flaws and the second version is said to settle those problems. We use old footages from the first shooting to complete the second part. It makes a perfect fit.

Well, due to what I have already stated in the previous post about the time constraint that we have for the weekend, that's why the video did not have much changes. Let's see what will Prof jaya comment on it. Hopefully, it will be all good.

So, that's all folks! Wait for our updated video to be shown in the class and after that, I will post it in the next entry =)

9th Class - Re-filming? Or No?

Hello!
Due to time constraint, we planned to just edit again the video by not re-shooting any new scene
to be added into the video.

Since everyone else has other commitments as well on the weekend, so we decided to use other RAW materials/video files to edit the video again.

The re-filming is not an easy task because the setting has changed a bit and the characters have undergo some kind of physical changes. That is why we did not re-shooting the video.

Thank you folks ^^

8th Class- Critical Review by Prof

So, the result turned to be as expected for me, but not for my other group members. But we did try our best to make the video. I treasure our own effort and time.

so here are the comments by Prof Jaya about our video:

"This video can sell well in Malaysia, because it is so Melayu."

"Very typical Malay drama on TV"

"Everything can be predicted. Cliche"

Well, of course it sadden us for a moment, so we kinda lost some momentum to re-shoot.

Now, we are still discussing about the changes to be made for the video.
Well.......of course we have learned a lot by doing this assignment, but at that moment, we felt that we just do not have enough time to re-shoot.

Let's see how it goes, will be updating about this again soon =)

4th Class - Giving support and editing process

So....the basically guy  (Zahid) did the editing actually. Undoubtedly, I am not so good in editing video as compared to him, hence, he was willingly to take the job.

Well, of course we did help him in other aspects. Giving ideas is one of the most noble job perhaps. hehe. It was rather difficult for everyone to take part in editing process, right? But to give ideas, everyone should be contributing to it.

Undoubtedly, we have Asyraf who is an expertise in photography/graphic. While Bazilah is expert in giving comments and feedback as well as saying everything is cute. LOL. Well, for me, I also helped Zahid to give comment whenever he asked my opinions about the video while editing it.

Well good luck everyone, we have lots of works to do !! Brace yourself people!!

7th Class - Presentation Day

So this is it, the day we have awaited for quite some time. It is the movie day!

The last class for Materials before sem break. So, we presented the video to the class. Our group was the last to go. I'm not sure why Zahid wanted our group to be the last one to present but oh well, as long as we present I don't really mind.

The first to go was Estrella Production. Their story is about a girl (Shafinaz), who is stalking her boyfriend (Asyraf). She followed him around and took pictures of his meetings with other girls using a smartphone. Basically, he was having an affair. No, many affairs, with 3 other girls. With one other malay girl, a malay-chinese girl, and an indian girl. Classy Asyraf. 1Malaysia much. In the end when the man was sitting alone, all of the three girls came up to him and beat him up. Then the tagline popped up, #BeSmartHaveASmartphone. I think that one weakness of the video is the camera trick because at times, Shafinaz was supposed to be hiding, stalking behind a tree, but she was actually standing in front of a tree. That's not really stalking.... I wish they would record from a different angle that higlights how stalker-ish Shafinaz is.

Next was Sesame Bun Production, with their story about a man, owner of a burger stall was stalked by a girl. He was afraid and all, but in the end, the girl was actually followed him because she wants a burger. Hmm I couldn't really understand the ending because the man was supposed to be the burger owner, but towards the ending, he was sitting and a burger was sent to him. Maybe they should work on their plot twist in this video.

Third video was from KilixKilix Production. The name alone is so cute. Okay, their video is a message about vandalism. First, showed a girl (Yun), trying to buy water from a vending machine, but the machine rejected her money. Asri, who tried to be the hero, kicked the machine till the water came out and gave it to Yun. Yun poured the water to Asri's face because his action of vandalizing was not heroic and worth to be admired at all. Second part of the video, Asri saw a beautiful girl (Asiah), and wanted to court her. When he saw her, he flipped the table (an act of vandalism) and ran to Asiah. She slapped him because of his act. So cute. I like the video because it is short and simple.

Last was of course, us. Maybe because we're the only group that did a tragic video. So Prof said that the video is kinda dragging. There's some unnecessary part that should be cut off.

Peisha told each group which part in the video that maybe can be improved or edited. So ours is the scene before McD. We should just straight to the McD scene and just start from there. Overall, it was good. Every group did a job well done.

Everyone has their own ideas
I believed that we have already done our best =)
